Justice League vs the Fatal Five: Jessica Cruz (Green Lantern)

I saw the movie Justice League vs the Fatal Five recently. There were a couple of  barefoot moments of the new female Green Lantern. ^_^
(From the movie Justice League vs the Fatal Five)

More of Jessica's feet can be found in this earlier tribute here:

Justice League vs the Fatal Five is sort of a return to the Justice League Unlimited universe with the Voice Actors who played Superman (George Newbern), Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Wonder Woman (Susan Eisenberg) reprising the role of those character. The animation style is also a similar style to the Justice League films.

This film introduces Jessica Cruz as the new Green Lantern for Earth and it focuses pretty heavily on her. Her origin story is very similar to her comic book origin. Jessica was traumatized by an attack she received  before becoming a Green Lantern and as a result developed Agoraphobia. When the Fatal Five attacks Jessica has to overcome her fears to help her fellow heroes fight against them.

For those not familiar with the Fatal Five... they are villain group from the future who often fight the Legion of Superheroes. The Fatal Five are lead by the extremely sexy Emerald Empress who after this film is at the top of my wish list of Female Comic Book characters that I would like to see barefoot. As far as I know she is never shown with her boots off. This film doesn't break that trend but we do get some nice domination scenes with her.

This is pretty fun and I definitely recommend it for comic book fans especially those that like the new female Green Lantern. She really gets a chance to shine in this one. :-)

  1. So... Green Lantern is now also female. I also heard, that they want to run the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie into a woman.

    1. The Green Lanturn is a police force so they can get away with this easier

So far that's just a rumor. Love the fact the idea was pitched that she would be driven mad by being asked to smile. Strong independent woman my foot

    2. First I've heard of that rumor.

I think there have been two female jokers in the past that I know about. One was in the Elseworlds comic Batman Thrillkiller and there was another in the Flashpoint continuity where she was Martha Wayne. DC has done some wild stuff with their alternate realities.

  2. This movie was like a blast from the past to me, using the DCAU designs, it's as though I'm picking up where the show left off. Haven't felt that way since Samurai Jack came back.

I'd like to point out THIS is a great example of you show off a strong female character without making it feel so like they're pushing a painfully obvious forced female agenda.

And bonus points for a realistic psychological problem with her PTS.
Just all around awesome character in both comics and cartoon.

    1. Wait so your saying they had a woman not constantly remind us she was a woman and have flaws?
