Huntik actually turned out to be a lot of fun to watch. Despite the fact the series is packed with cliches, the plot is exciting, dramatic and action packed and the series is filled with memorable characters that the viewer can connect with (all sporting distinctive and memorable personalities of their own). You know a series has a great cast when you find yourself connecting with not only the heroes of the show but some of the villains and side characters as well. Huntik also has some of the best non-anime animation that I've seen in a while. All of the fight scenes were a pleasure to watch and there are moments when the series actually made me resist the urge to blink. (Mostly when Zhalia was on screen :-p) During the 2 day marathon I spent watching all 26 episodes back to back, I had to remind myself about the necessity of sleep. ^_^
Ok...moving back to the subject of this tribute. Sophie has a lot going for her. She's intelligent, a powerful magic user and as these caps suggest, she's a pretty powerful fighter. There's also no denying she's incredibly attractive. :-) Adding in her dry sense of humor, cute accent, and rather unique fashion sense, you've got quite the charmer. ^_^ Her feet look great too. I'd definitely love to give this mage a foot rub.
Alright, I'll probably discuss this in greater detail in my next entry (yeah I'm aiming for another end of the week entry this week), but I added a chapter involving Kallen to Mr. E's new Code Geass R1/R2 Shrinking interactive . ReplyDeleteThat brings up one of my classic memories from the 10th grade Match. I've never taken Yoga before but to expand our curriculum world culture...My entire history class was given a guest Yoga lesson. Of course once the instructor told the class to remove their footwear, I made sure that I positioned myself behind the hottest girl in class. I spent over a half hour with a nice close up view of her soles. Needless to say, I did a lot of studying. :-D
ReplyDeleteYeah Huntik is fairly new Kyle so its pretty obscure. I think its an Italian animated series. I actually found by accident by channel surfing on a rare Saturday I had off. I was so impressed with the animation that I actually watched the rest of the episode all the way through.
ReplyDeleteAfterward I proceeded to immediately track down and watch the entire series initially just to find barefoot scenes of the incredibly (and I do mean INCREDIBLY) hot purple haired chick (not Sophie btw)to post for you guys but eventually cause the series turned out to be really exciting. Eventhough barefoot scenes of the girls turned out be really rare, I can honestly say I have no regrets about watching this series through.

and just to spare anyone from having to search for the rare foot scenes (like I did). The good ones are in the beginning of episode 10 (this scene)and the end of episode 13.
It's true SFD...the voice acting is a little stiff for a modern day cartoon but its definitely not the worst I've seen and I think a couple of the voice actors are pretty good (Zhalia definitely comes to mind).

ReplyDeleteThat's true, Stefan. Films (and anything else) live or die on their casting. People can actually kill a movie, never mind a dub, if they're the wrong actors/voice actors.
ReplyDeleteI think the voices on huntik are pretty good actually, mainly the girls but yeh. Sophie has an English acent but because she is well spoken and has an unusual voice she sounds really unique. Zhalia is also very good, she kinda reminds me of myself apart from the fact I don't have powers and i'm not a dustbin kid out on the streets. Can't believe we have to wait until the end of fall 2010 to see series 2. And how do you guys have a crush on a cartoon ?

ReplyDeleteAs for having crushes on Cartoons...I think it just connected to a person's imagination. People fantasize about a lot of different things i.e. celebrities, catholic school girls, russian gymnasts etc so fictional characters aren't really that much of a stretch. Especially with such a dramatic animated series like Huntik where the characters are written with personalities and feelings to make them seem realistic.
Also with this series...judging from the way the characters look and are dressed, I think the animators/production team are trying to encourage a certain amount of attraction from the viewers for the female characters. :-D

ReplyDeletebtw have you noticed in episode 17 that lok uses freelancer or w/e hes called to guard the amulets and then when dante is fighting the organisation he uses freelancer so they messed up a bit there because they can't both have him.
Actually tell a lie they have one each. I thought he only leant it to Lok but he actually gave it to him. they are both slightly different but not by much. If you can get more then one of each titan I don't know why they are always in such a rush to find new ones, I mean there will always be another.

ReplyDeleteI'm a lot older...in my 20's. I don't get a chance to watch that many new (non-anime) cartoons lately but I made an exception with this series after seeing one of its episodes. It's very good. :-D
I live in the New York Eastern united states time so the clock might be set according to that time. I noticed that it always seems to be an hour or two off though.

Yeah I really identify with a lot of the characters in the show. They all seem to have pieces of my personality especially Dante and Locke.

Also Dante has that type of mentor quality to him that being an older brother I see myself having.
I also identify with Zhalia too because she a loner and has that lonely type of quality that I see myself having as well.
My favorite character in the series is Zhalia because she's really attractive and cool.

When you say zhalia is a loner i think of her as she has people to go back to but she prefers to shut them out, she hides her true feelings unless shes reached breaking point and feels she has to reveal things. She won't do anything unless she absalutely has to. she is a loner but not in the way where no one will have her but because she prefers to be in her own company if that makes sense. she's kind of like me but i do try to hold my sarcastic tongue as much as possible unlike zhalia who has no shame attitude wise. She's pretty good with come backs too!

ReplyDeleteOh yeah with Zhalia, one of the things that I really like about her is that she seems cold and sarcastic but she really cares about her friends. Deep down she's a good person but she doesn't always like to show it. The writers did a really good job of making her an interesting character to watch.
yeh, they made them unique personalities bcus normaly in a cartoon they try to give the characters personalities but they never seem real. in huntik you sort of feel how they feel if that makes any sense at all.

I watched episodes 19, 20, 21, 22, and 26 today, i missed them when they were on tv, they were really good,all the characters revealed their true feelings but i cnt believe sabriel is gone, she was a good friend to sophie, i mean she sacrificed herself to keep Sophie safe even though Sophie wasnt in any immediate danger bcus the professer wasn't bothered about sophie as he didnt think of her as a threat.

I was really glad to see the two couples that I was rooting for hook up. Yeah seeing Sabriel sacrifice herself was really dramatic. I felt so bad for her when that happened.

I watched all the episodes back to back on youtube after seeing one of the episodes on TV. I was very impressed with the animation on the show. It turned out to be a really exciting, fun and dramatic series. I'm really glad that I decided to watch it. ^_^
umm i quite like episode 20 i think it is and im not sure about Lok's father but i dont think he's dead. I did think he was the dog bcus simon sed come be my dog in a flashback but i dont think he's the dog anymore, even htough the dog can control titans.

Also i think you should read these 2 stories someone wrote using the huntik characters, they are really good. to read the next chapter of eachstory there should be a drop arrow on the bottome right of every page. O_O Thanks very much for those links Chez. I like fanfiction a lot. :-D I just finished reading Lost and Found. It was really entertaining. The characters' personalities in the story match their personalities in the cartoon very well. Zhalia and Locke's depiction was perfect. The author did a really good job. Very exciting plot too.

Glad you enjoyed it too, i like the way they built up the relashonships between characters like lok and zhalia, alot of trust there. I've read, lost and found,when destiny calls, and dark is the day ( you should read dark as the day aswel, it's alot shorter ), they were all written by the same person, he's a good writer. I dont know what fanfiction is lol i just stumbled across it on google, i might try and write my own huntik episode like they have, im quite good at reading and writing.
