Despite being somewhat clumsy and a bit of an airhead she is one of the strongest Karuta players in Japan. She once made it to the finals of a tournament to face off against the Queen but lost out to Yumi Yamamoto. Outwardly she tends to be very polite, but her inner dialogue reveals her to be kind of mean and vicious. Still she has a lot of support, even from those who can see the Megumi.

DeleteThey must be prohibited from wearing socks while competing. I thought it was their choice, but because no one ever wears them, they obviously don't have a choice. Oh well, it works out in our favor. And BTW, notice who Megumi is competing with in the blue? It's the main heroine, Chitose. Paganax has more posts of her scheduled soon.

DeleteTatami is a material made from rice straw and woven into mats. You commonly see them in old fashioned Japanese houses (like Rei Hino's), and in martial arts dojos. They aren't even allowed to wear slippers on tatami mats. If the floor above is tatami, it wouldn't surprise me, because wood and metal floors where people walk barefoot all the time (like at bathhouses and public pools) collect a lot of germs, and people could contract athlete's foot. Yuck, gross myself out just thinking about it. 😝

DeleteWell it's not required for tatami, as they always try to keep that as clean as possible. But after a public bath house closes for the evening, they always disinfect, scrub, and mop the floors while wearing sandals. Mayuko did it every night at the bathhouse she was living at on NieA_7.
