Hanasaku Iroha: Ohana Matsumae

The 16-year-old main protagonist who lives in her grandmother's hot spring inn after her mother elopes with her boyfriend to evade his debt. Her personality is energetic, optimistic and determining and acts her age. Her best friend, Koichi Tanemura, confessed his feelings to her before she was send to live with her grandmother and she had realized her feelings for him though she still hasn't admitted it until much later on. She has an thing for an mixed soft drink of Cola-Cola and black tea. Her time with her grandmother was to work at her inn as compensation for staying until things work up with her parents. She has her ideals of helping others and with a strong sense of justice to support them, which often clash with the ways on the people working at the inn, especially her own grandmother.
