Around a thousand years ago, Frieren lost her village and family to demons. She was found by Flamme after defeating the demons and became her pupil. Flamme taught her to constrict her magic for her entire life to conceal her true power, a tactic used to deceive demons in lowering their guard. Flamme seemed to be the only one who truly understood Frieren's psyche, as she left notes protected by a barrier knowing Frieren would seek them in the future after committing a mistake.
