Dejah Thoris Premium Statue

I separated this model from the  Dejah Thoris set last week because I felt like this deserved its own post.

Model Specs:
Dejah Thoris Premium Format Figure
Manufactured by Sideshow collectibles
Size:  14" (height) x 16" (Width) x 13 (Depth)
Sculpted by: Will Harbottle
Material:  Metal, Polystone

This model  probably has the most realistic feet that I've seen on any figure in my life. Kudos to artists responsible for this one. :-)

I'm still in shock at the detail of her soles.

*Shakes head repeatedly and splashes water on face*

Ok Everyone... that's going to be all for this week as always more to come soon!

Important Note: This was the last post I prepared in advance before I got deployed for my job. I tried to prepare enough figure sets to last until I get back. I plan to keep doing these until the end of December. Hopefully I'll be back to finish the rest of this series and create some new posts next week. :-) If I'm not... work is probably just keeping me busy and I apologize in advance for not being able to complete them.

Hope that all is well and miss you guys. :-)

Dejah Thoris (Figure)

This week's figure tribute is dedicated to the sexy Princess of Mars Dejah Thoris. ^_^

(Various Webfinds of this character and figures. This post also includes artwork from J. Scott Campbell)

I do want to give Dejah Thoris an actual tribute in the future because she's really a cool character and the comics involving her depict her barefoot a lot.  For those not familiar with this woman. Dejah Thoris is a martian princess from the series Warlords of Mars. She is married to the protagonist of the series John Carter. Warlords of Mars was written by Edgar Rice Burroughs who is more famous for creating the character Tarzan. Like with Tarzan's, the Warlords of Mars series have been adapted to comic books and films.

There are actually two figures in this set both of which are from the Women of Dynamite series (a group of models that showcase women from Dynamite comic books i.e. Red Sonja, Jungle Girl, Vampirella etc. The first one has Dejah wielding a sword in a commanding pose. The pedestal she is standing on gives a great sense of the Martian environment that she lives in. We see the harsh desert surroundings, the skull of an alien race and a lizard lie at her bare feet. This model was based on Artwork from Frank Cho and sculpted by artist Jason Smith.

The second model is a diorama statue of Dejah showing in control of a fierce wildcat that she tamed.  :-) It is inspired by Artwork from J. Scott Campbell and sculpted by Steve Kiwis. ^_^
