Today's post is dedicated to one of Tohru's closest friends, Arisa Uotani. Nicknamed Uo-chan by Tohru, she is a former female gang member who idolized Tohru's mother Kyoko. As such, she can come off as tough and brash, leading some to refer to her as a "Yankee." Thanks to Tohru and Kyoko, Arisa was able to leave her gang and become a better person, and a fierce protector to Tohru after Kyoko's death. With her father still a recovering alcoholic, and her mother abandoning the both of them when Arisa was still young, you can understand how she ended up on a downward spiral throughout a big portion of her life. Arisa seems to prefer being barefoot while inside homes, and has grown accustomed to it even before meeting Tohru. So you can expect some pretty good scenes here. And also be on the lookout for another tribute to her from Dean Lawrence sometime in the future which may include GIFs. Be sure to give him praise for his hard work as well. And for now, enjoy my tribute. These images also include flashbacks.
Her feet are pretty cute. Is this from the second season?
ReplyDeleteMost are from the first. The last 3 are from the second.
DeleteI see. I really missed the original anime and didn't saw much of this reboot.
DeleteTo be clear, all these images are from the reboot. It's actually easier if we pretend the 2001 anime never existed. Natsuki didn't like it much, and the animation in this new one is so much better.
DeleteOK. Just focus on this 2019 reboot?
DeleteYes, that's my personal opinion.
DeleteSorry that I brought up the original anime.
DeleteDon't apologize, it's still a part of Fruits Basket history.
DeleteMaybe I was just watching this reboot just for female feet and Tohru Honda.
DeleteWhich it is loaded with.
DeleteLike a boatload of female feet to drool over?
DeleteYou bet.
DeleteNow that is one good reason this series is great for us foot fetishists.
DeleteUm I like the 2001 version as well. Why should older anime versions be forgotten? I'm sorry, It just reminds me of ignoring fma 2003 over brotherhood.
DeleteTrue, very true. And Arisa had some of the best feet scenes in that version by far.
DeleteYay for tomboys, wish she kept her hair short though and a shame their goth friend rarely goes barefoot
ReplyDeleteAh, Saki Hanajima. Doesn't really surprise me though, she doesn't seem the type.
DeleteGreat post Dan. I've been wanting to watch Fruit Basket for a long time. I hope that I'm able to see it one day.
ReplyDeleteAre you talking about the original 2001 anime or this reboot?
DeleteThe original. How does the reboot compare to it?
DeleteI can answer that. It will adapt the full manga, the art is much better, and every staff and cast member is different. Natsuki the creator, and the original director of the 2001 anime did not get along and butted heads quite a bit. And in the end she didn't like the finished product. Plus, at the time, the manga was still ongoing. So there were a lot of "secrets" that hadn't been revealed yet. They've already done 50 episodes in two seasons, and the third and final season is set to debut sometime next year. And even though the entire Japanese cast is new, a lot of the original FUNimation alumni who did voices in the 2001 version reprise their roles.
DeleteO.O Oh then maybe best to go straight to the reboot.
DeleteYeah, since it goes beyond what the original anime went in terms of adapting the manga.
DeleteYes, exactly the way I feel.
DeleteYeah, this is good.
