Nanaka is a childhood friend of Sana who wrote part of a song for him when he moved away. After Sana returned to town he found Nanaka had become colder and more distant due to a trauma she sufferer when her house burned down. She can be self conscious and is often jealous of the other girls when she sees them with Sana; however, she does open up a bit when alone with him.

Also the singer Kaori, who does the game and the anime, always reminded me of like a female Hyde(L'Arc-en-Ciel), the way she pitches the higher notes.
That is quite the collection for her. I don't know if any other character in this series can top that.
