Gundam Wing's 30th Anniversary

This post is to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary with Relena. In case you're wondering, Wing is what make the Gundam franchise so popular and well-known in the West especially in the U.S. and this anime was such a huge deal after it aired on Toonami in 2000 due to being the first Gundam TV series aired on there that tackles things like politics and pacifism with five handsome boys piloting mobile suits called Gundams to take down the OZ Organization with Operation Meteor then later dealing with mobile dolls, the Romefeller Foundation and the White Fang. This Ending theme is called "It's Just Love!" by Rumi Ohishi.

I'm going to be brutally honest, despite that I was tuned into Toonami during elementary school around the time this show first aired on Cartoon Network during the 3rd grade, I did not watch this due to how I was too focused on other anime like DBZ, Sailor Moon and Pokémon at the time and because of that, Wing was NOT my introduction to Gundam despite seeing bumpers and intros. 00 (Double-O) was my first Gundam series in late 2008 since it was like a spiritual successor to Wing due to some similarities like a group of pretty boys piloting Gundams, trying to obtain peace through fighting a war in order to prevent further ones from happening, and plenty of action and suspense. I didn't get to fully see Wing until late 2013 (around the time Gundam Build Fighters was airing) so I kind of missed out all the craze for it during the original Toonami's early years. Speaking of Toonami, this year, 2025, marks the 25th anniversary of Wing's premiere on the block. All in all, Gundam Wing is a very important AU series that serves as a gateway to the Gundam franchise outside of Japan.

  1. Very well put. Actually got my dad into this series when it first aired, he found Dorothy Catalonia, uhh... interesting to say the least.
Relena Peacecraft, always such a hated character, until you find out most the hate was really from jealous, butt-mad fujos, who watched primarily for the pretty boys.
**spoiler**Personally I didn't like how the show ended with Lady UN(United Nations) uniting the world, as if hippy-dippy pacifism could actually function in any capacity, police would be redundant for one. It just doesn't work and is frankly kinda gay.**spoiler**
Also, Romefeller Foundation = Rockefeller Foundation, same phony philanthropists that funded the UN, for a bit of ironic trivia or rather sleight-of-hand synchronicity.

    1. I see. I found the whole show to be OK since 00 have some similarities to Wing.

    2. Question: what is the difference in intonation between "OK" and "ok"?

    3. I don't know. I thought they meant the same thing depending on how it is being used unless you got a better description of the word "OK".

    4. Sometimes I'd see you describe something as "OK" vs "ok" and assumed it stressed a different inflection. Like OK meaning greater than ok or something.
