Supergirl Celebration Part 13: Tomorrowverse Supergirl

Our the next Supergirl up is... the one from a series DC animated movies featuring the Tomorrowverse. The Tomorrowverse gets its name from the first film of that series "Superman: Man of Tomorrow". Supergirl plays a prominent role in this universe and is featured in 4 of the films: Legion of Superheroes and Crisis on Infinite Ears 1-3.  She is a really fun character.

As with Unbound we don't get to see this version of her barefoot in the films which is a pretty big letdown however we but I was able to A.I. generate some images for her once again using the Gemini tool...

There was a flashback sequence with Supergirl on Krypton the outfit she was wearing reminded me of Zero Suit Samus from Metroid. I used it as a starting point to generate images of her.

I updated the perspective requesting that they adjust the perspective so that she is facing the camera.
They should also through have her show the sole of her feet to the viewer. :-)
Move her soles to the center..

and step on the viewer as well. :-D
I also generated some pictures of her performing a POV kick because we all love that view. :-)

I did a behind the scenes post with some additional outtake images that didn't make the cut for this on Anime Footnotes. It provides a little bit more detail on some of the prompts I used to generate these and some of the enhancements I requested for these images.

Warning: There are a  spoiler in this post for the Crisis on Infinite Earths story ahead. Though to be fair the story is over 40 years old by now. ^_^;

I  am glad I get the chance to talk about the Tomorrowverse. This version of Supergirl was very well developed and I really like watching her in action.  She starts off impulsive and headstrong but trains and grows and becomes a much better heroine over the course of her movies. We see her go through
a romance with Brainiac 5 and ultimately sacrifice herself to ensure that Earth survives. The actress portraying her in this series is Meg Donelly who actually looks like you she could portray Supergirl in a live action if she wanted to. She seemed to have a lot of energy when delivering Supergirl's lines. It really made all her scenes fun to watch. This version of her is fast, smart and powerful.

Tomorrowverse split the Crisis on Infinite Earth's storyline into 3 separate film which may have stretched out the story more than needed. I wasn't complaining though because it allowed for more scenes with Kara. The last movie however is particular notable because there is a great tribute to the Batman the Animated series Batman. Kevin Conroy (who portrayed that version of Batman) passed away a little before this movie was released.  The movie gave him a final scene allowing him to send off the character and acknowledge his legacy as Batman in the best possible way

Ok everyone. Still a few more versions of Supergirl left to go. On that note... more to come soon!

Supergirl Celebration Part 10: 2026 Movie Supergirl (Milly Alcock)

Our next version of Supergirl  up is the most recent Live action version of Supergirl fresh from the 2026 Supergirl film. She is portrayed by the Australian Actress Milly Alcock.

Supergirl Doesn't have a lot of barefoot scenes in the film however we do get a short ad for the movie where Supergirl / Milly was barefoot and playfully spray-painting a train with a Supergirl design

A clip of the scene is available here:

Of course there are some good images available of Milly Barefoot as well...

I actually watched the new Supergirl film earlier this week. It wasn't a bad film but it was a little dry for me. It definitely has some good scenes. A lot of reviewers compare the movie to Mad Max in space which I can sort of see. It has a lot of action but it wasn't as fun as the earlier James Gunn Superman film. I think it suffered from the fact that there were not a lot of popular DC characters for Supergirl to interact with since she is adventuring in space separate from Earth. I found the standout scenes in this film was when she was interacting with Lobo, Superman and Krypto.

I knew Milly Alcock from watching the series House of the Dragon where she already has been shown to be charming and charismatic. In HOTD her character gets aged up and another actress (Emma D'arcy) replaces her causing that character to immediately lose some of her charm and charisma. As Supergirl, Milly is able make the character fun and likeable. Her best scene still is in the Superman movie where she shows up at the Fortress of Solitude drunk to pick up her dog from Superman.  😊 Hopefully we will see more of her and her feet in later films.

Ok... Still more Supergirl to come!!
