Tara Boumdeay is one of Dr. Gangreen experiments that managed to escape. As a Human-Tomato hybrid she turns into her tomato form when she is exposed to salt and reverts back to a human when pepper is applied. Tara has psychic powers that gives her the heads up when one of Dr. Gangreen's other experiments are in the area, among other things.
I remember their little cherry tomato buddy. Even had some toys of this franchise too, like the mummy tomato.
