Jem and the Holograms: Ba Nee (classic 80's cartoon)

 Ba Nee was born in Vietnam during the war sometime after her father was taken prison her mother died and she ended up as one of the Starlight girls.  Ba Nee also suffered from a degenerate eye condition that required a $250,000 (approx. $764,400 in 2026) eye surgery to prevent her from her from going permanently blind. Despite her difficult life she is polite and kind and even gave Roxy a book to help her to learn how to read.  In the final episode she is finally reunited with her father.
