Ranma 1/2: Female Ranma vs. Kodachi (Part 1)
This is from the battle for the future of Furinkan High's rhythmic gymnastics team after Akane accepted Kodachi's challenge: an anything-goes martial arts rhythmic gymnastics bout. But Akane has no knowledge of rhytumic gymnastics which leaves Ranma to stop Kodachi. This is going to be an two-part megapost which oovers Episode 13.

Akane, would have competed, but she injured her ankle. So it was good of Ranma to step in. Looking fabulous so far.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Ranma stepped in the replace Akane in the challenge. Do you think if Akane didn't have that ankle injury, will she compete?

ReplyDeleteKodachi's appearance always reminded me a little bit of Kagura from Inuyasha. I guess technically Kagura should remind me of Kodachi but I watched Inuyasha first.
ReplyDeleteHold on King. There's someone else from Inuyasha who looks even more like Kodachi. Princess Abi. Not only that, they both share the same Japanese and English voice actresses! Saeko Shimazu and Teryl Rothery. You've seen Princess Abi before, right?

DeleteI told ya. Actually, Kodachi had 3 English voices over the span of the series, but Teryl was the first. The other two were Erin Fitzgerald, and Sylvia Zaradic.
DeleteWow Teryl must have been around a long time if she did Kodachi and then went on to voice Kagura as well. I wonder why they switched actresses so many times.
DeleteTeryl has been around a long time. But she voiced Abi, not Kagura. Kagura was voiced in English by Janyse Jaud, who has also been around a long time as well. The switches of voice actors happened for a number of reasons. Some of them actually went to Flight School. Others moved on after growing tired with the roles, and one was even fired due to the negative reception she got portraying female Ranma.
DeleteMeant Abi. That makes sense. This anime ran for quite a few seasons. Wow... the female Ranma got fired?
DeleteThat's what I've read at least. I also just read she could have actually moved to Los Angeles. Brigitta Dau only voiced her in like eight episodes before being replaced by Venus Terzo.
