She's Madoka's best friend and an middle school student who made a contract with the Incubator, Kyubey, to become a magical girl in order to heal the wounded hand of Kyosuke Kamijo, a young violinist who she is infatuated with by visiting him daily in the hospital. But after she realized what it means to have a Soul Gem, her view of the world is slowly corrupted as she gave up on her own humanity since to her that was no point of living in despair, this caused in her transformation into a Witch.
