Ironheart Riri Williams Part 1: Comics

Special 2 part tribute today. This is a tribute to the Superheroine Ironheart (Riri Williams) ^_^
A little bit of trivia is that Marvel decided to pull these covers done by J. Scott Campbell because they received a bit of backlash that Riri looked a little too provocative on it. ^_^;

Riri is a teenage genius who briefly took over the Iron Man role from Tony Stark. Riri is incredibly smart and was able reverse engineer and build her own version of the Iron Man outfit.  The Civil War 2 storyline placed Tony Stark in a Coma and Riri wound up filling in for him becoming a Super Heroine in her own right. She was assisted by an A.I. version of Tony Stark's consciousness. She later adopted the name Ironheart to continue in the role.

Riri is a cool character. She's very smart. She's also an introvert which is something I relate to. The one thing I did notice reading her comics was that she didn't real get a lot of time to shine. I think the plot involving her becoming Iron Man was cut short as other storylines with Marvel took priority. There was like a couple of issues of Iron Man where she took center stage and then she was abruptly dropped as Tony Stark was almost immediately returned to the Iron Man role. I felt they rushed both Riri's story and Tony's return arc and neither character was done justice. Riri still has an ongoing series currently in development so hopefully we'll get to see more of her in the future. Riri was popular to be one of the Marvel cartoon series as you'll see in the next post.

Stay tuned!

    1. You are not alone in that opinion. I think that might be part of the reason why her comic book time as Iron Man was cut short.

    2. Mary Sue? Is she that perfect?

    3. They make her a girl genius giving her the ability to create an Iron Man outfit without going into much detail about her. I actually thought the Marvel Rising cartoons developed her character a little bit more.

    4. In her first issue Tony’s mom literally gives her his garage.

  2. She would have made a better villain
