Dragon Ball GT: Pan (Episode 3)
This is where she, Trunks and Goku were staying at a hotel on Planet Imecka to search for the Black Star Dragon Balls before the Earth gets destroyed within one year, only to found out that everything they do there cost them money all because of the ruler of the planet who is very greedy.

How disappointing she never got any good close up shots and now we rarely see her.

DeleteI like how they attempted to make GT in the same vein as OG DB, only for the first half to end up like a poor man's Pokemon.
ReplyDeleteWhen you say a poor man's Pokemon, would that be something like Monsono or Chaotic? To me, this is like the Double Zeta Gundam of DB, first half lighthearted, then darker and actionized second half.
DeleteChaotic was more a poor man's Digimon and I don't know what the fuck that hot mess Monsuno was even trying to be. Bakugan maybe?
Deletelel ZZ and GT is an interesting comparison, didn't think of that. World hopping part of GT was just underwhelming filler fodder, the power scaling wasn't convincing, villains were lame and Goku as a child was a tired plot device. Also should've focused on Uub more and Pan was wasted potential not ascending as a Saiyan.
So, what do you think it's a poor man's Pokémon? I'm surprised you saw Monsuno and Bakugun. What else you watched in the mon shows? Like none of them hold the longevity or populaity of Pokémon?

Really just saying the early half of GT had a similar premise doing lame town-to-town fetch quests, like some rpg, just that Pokemon did that premise better. The later half, once they got up to Baby, was more interesting.
DeleteWatched Monster Rancher on Fox Family and Sci-Fi years ago, it was alright, played the PSX game too. Saw Kaijudo on HUB, would've been more interesting but was waaay to preachy and clearly had an underlying agenda using the mon show cover.
But ye, nothing will ever trump the Nintendo pocket Juggernaut.
Reminds me of Bulma in episode 2 of OG Dragon Ball.
