Koyoko starts the series as a 21 year old widow and is considered quite beautiful by many people she meets. She is introduced to her future fiancé Yusaku Godai while working as the live in manager of Maison Ikkoku Boarding House. Through out the series she worries about the two year age gap and whether or not she should wait for Yusaku to graduate college or marry another suiter by the name of Shun Mitaka. Kyoko is typically sweet and polite; but, can be frightening and even a bit violent when angry or jealous.
