 Haruka is the younger sister of Kanata.  Unlike her older sibling she is much more energetic and believes in having perfect behavior and manners.

 Haruka's mother is the person that inspired her to take up Karuta and attempt to reclaim the title of queen after starting a family.

 Haruka is a former queen with four consecutive titles.  It is believed she could have won more if she had not taken a a pair of maternity leaves.  In season three she struggles balancing her young family with Karuta and her attempt to retake the title.  She wins the right to challenge Shinobu for the queen's title.
