Black March

I promised that I would try and keep you guys informed about fighting Internet Censorship SOPA/PIPA/ACTA etc. This month there is a boycott going on to protest the bill. The goal is to let the film, music, and media corporations behind these bills know how angry we at them for lobbying our government to what basically = the destruction of the internet. I think a lot of you have probably noticed sites that you like going down and material being hard to find over the past couple of months. You can thank these corporations for that.

How does the Boycott work?:

Basically the idea is between March 1st and 31st not to buy or download or watch any new movies, DVD, songs, CDs, Videogames or any other types of media that the entertainment industry endorsing these bill put out. A list of companies that the boycott targets can be found here:
What is the Boycott's purpose?

The purpose of the Black March boycott is to hit the greedy corporations behind the SOPA/PIPA and ACTA bills where it hurts the most...their wallets. Let them know that we don't like what they are doing and it will affect their profits if they keep it up.

I'm going to link to some more information about the boycott so that you guys can find out about it and decide if you want to be a part of it.

I'm definitely going to be participating in this and I really encourage you guys to participate in it too if you can and try to get others to participate in it as well. This boycott is a great way to combat bills like SOPA/PIPA/PCIPA and ACTA with the additional benefit of actually hitting the source of where these bills are coming from. Let's do what we can to protect our Internet.

  1. Dwn With All Of these DMCA Clones. In fact Down With DMCA.

  2. Heh. SOPA, PIPA and whatever else is out there not only is ineffecient, but also restrictive. That being said, if they want to 'destroy' the internet and ruin everything, fine. It seems that human beings tend to learn more when they have their emotions crushed or have their blood spilled. If congress dares to go ahead with this, and they finally realize how bad it is, maybe they'll finally learn their lesson. Who knows? But if they want to seriously impact the internet, then they can go ahead and ruin it for everyone. It can be a life lesson for all of us on how you don't know what you got 'till it's gone.

  3. I like the choice of background KSC ^_^

  4. :-( Sadly that has a really good chance of happening Jack Bower. I lose more and more faith in our government by the day.

    Thanks Breakthewalls. ^_^

  5. Damn, so many people backing these bills. I figured it would be a list of companies in relation to Microsoft, Apple, Sony, Dolby Digital, etc that we would have to look out for but damn, this truly is a black out! I'm definitely pitching in for this one dude! Thanks for the links and informing us!

  6. Yeah it really is a shame that so many companies are involved in pushing these bills forward. Thanks very much for trying to fight them as well. ^_^

  7. I'm with you. ALL of you. And I say we stock up while we still have the Internet and the 2nd Amendment, because if Black March fails, and ACTA, SOPA and/or PIPA pass, we'll have to take things from shitstorm to whatever the hell would come after it.

  8. It's a good idea Mister_Bushido. If those bills take affect it gonna make thing miserable. Even at there current state sites are disappering left and right.
