Chihayafuru returns with season three. This season focused less on the Mizusawa High School Karuta Club and more on the personal relationships and trials of a handful of characters. The result was a decrease in the number of Karuta matches; but a much greater focus on the ones they have.
Chihaya once again returns as the main character and shows her growth as a player by winning the 'Yoshino Class A Tournament'. However, she misses the queen qualifier tournament due to a class trip.
