She's an tomboyish Japanese schoolgirl during the Taisho era (the early 1920s), she lose her mother during her childhood and was raised by her father instead, who was a high-ranking official in the Japanese army. As a result, she has grown into tomboyish stuff in contrast to traditional Japanese notions of femininity, she studies kendo, drinks sake, dresses in often outlandish-looking Western clothing instead of the traditional Japanese kimono, and isn't interested in housewife duties as she is in literature. She even refused to follow her family tradition on arrange marriage without her permission and believed that she has her own choice to marry someone, later she fell in love with Shinobu Ijuin, an German lieutenant, who saved her from falling from an tree after getting her kite. This is on the first part of the 2-part movie.

    1. Depending on the fact, it is based on an old manga from the 70s and your taste for old-school stuff.

    2. Sometimes OG stuff is better than modern stuff. I might be nostalgic for old style writing.

  4. The pink was also a nice touch to emphasize the soft, suppleness of her skin from wearing boots too long.
