Supergirl Celebration (Mega Post Series): Part 1 DC All In Supergirl

I'm going to try and do some more posts on my side this summer The new James Gunn Supergirl Movie released last Friday. In honor of that we are doing a Multi-part Mega-post set honoring various versions of the Girl of Steel. Let's dive in...

I'm going to start with a few tribute to some of the her comic book variations. Supergirl has been around in comic for about 67 years and I've been stockpiling content for her for awhile now so it was little bit tricky deciding how to divide up her shots. We will start with a few scenes from her latest DC All In series...

DC ALL in Supergirl

Supergirl's current series is written and illustrated by Sophie Campbell. It also has the Artist Tamra Bonvillain handling the coloring. The series is a fun read but does have some trippy elements leaning heavily into Supergirl's sci-fi background. This was particular noticeable in the latest arc where Supergirl gets badly beaten up and gets revived as a cyborg. I've been enjoying it so far though...
One of the things that I really got to appreciate from looking into multiple depictions of this character for these tributes is that the current series does a lot of nods to the early comic book depiction referencing the period of time where her Silver age incarnation lived in an orphanage prior to being adopted by the Danver's family. One example is they have an issue referencing her Robot duplicate which she used  to preserve her identity in her early comic book days.
A nifty gadget that she uses is a special Chromatic comb which she uses to mask her identity. It changes the color of her hair as part of her disguise. In her original depiction she uses a brown wig.
The girl in purple is Supergirl's friend Clarissa.
The dark haired girl above is Lena Luthor. This version of her is Lex Luthor's daughter. She is depicted as genius inventor and tends to dress in a goth style alot. Lena will get her own tribute down the line.
This outfit is another easter egg connecting to her older comic book incarnations. This outfit is the one worn in her 1970s series. The reason its included in this tribute though is the nice bit of fanservice where the outfit gets damaged allow readers of the comic to get to see a little bit of Supergirl's skin.
