Comic Gals: Mystic's Giselle and Genvieve

Okay, this post was originally on my old blog before I decided to dump it. It didn't go well there but I think its better suited here. Be careful though, I actually had to scan these pics in since they literally nowhere on the internet. Copyrights go to respected owners to all the pricks out there who search for this stuff just to send poor fans off to jail.

Giselle and Genvieve are your pretty typical orphaned duo. Giselle is spunky, tomboyish, and barefooted (only in issue one of the comic unfortunately) while Genvieve is girl, proper and has a lot of high hopes in a world where magic is powered by the substance known as either. The girls have for years been breaking into their head mistress' secret library where they have been educating themselves on magic in hopes that when they get out of the orphanage they're at they can make it big. Well, to make a long story short, here's what happens: Shit happens at the orphanage, the girls have to run away, they go to the big exam where the world's top magic expert is going to looking for his next apprentice, something Genvieve has always dreamed of becoming, the two sneak into the exam as castle maids and in a rage of how the upper class is keeping the less educated magic users out Giselle calls out the head magician's trick question. When she answers it correctly, Giselle is brought up and the magician sees that she has eyes the color of either which is part of a prophecy he was told and makes Giselle his apprentice and crushing Genvieve's dreams and ruining her friendship with Giselle.

That was a lot but I hope it made some sense. Personally not one of my most favorite series considering how short it ran and it had a lot of teen cliches in it too. The publishers are an off branch of Marvel so I'm not too surprised since Marvel is trying way too hard to try and appeal to the modern anime/manga generation who like teen heroes. But hey, we got some pretty pictures to look at here. Enjoy guys.

  1. Just so I know, how do people feel about the quality of these pictures? Okay or not okay? I have one other post like this that's a scan but I won't post it if people don't like the quality. Sorry to disappoint anyone.

  3. The quality is fine. Scans are sometimes necessary for these things. Don't worry about it. :)

I haven't heard of this series, but I haven't been following comics anymore for several years now. :b Looks okay enough, and the art is very nice.

    1. Thanks for letting me know man. I'll try to do more like this then when I can.

Its not the best comic out there and I doubt you'll find more of it since it was only about 4 issues long. The art is nice but that's probably the only redeeming quality to it.

  4. Quality looks great, it's nice to see that you have it in paper format, I still think it's the best medium to enjoy comics! :) Thanks for advertising this works, sadly I never heard of it because off-branch material are not easy to come up here. The art is pretty unique, not to mention a cover made by Amanda Conner: she really ahve a nice and spunky artstyle and she really know how to draw some really lovely feet! Thanks for the post!

  5. O_O Very hot!! I love Amanda Connor's artwork. Getting to see a barefoot magic girl made my day. I'm a little bit familiar with Crossgen from reading Ruse but this series is new to me. Another comic series I have to check out. ^_^
